COURSEWORKKK

the photos aren't the best but they are the only ones that i have. Therefore you have to put up with them. but no matter what, i put in a lot of effort. And i think its worth looking at haha.
Have fun!!

My coursework is a series of three posters depicting the various wild animals and how they are affected by human activities. Many wild animals have been driven to endangerment and even extinction due to our insensitive actions.

PANDA
This is an example of how our actions are indirectly causing harm to wild animals. Due to our actions, global warming has become even worse. This heating up of the earth has caused many forest fires. Forest fires have destroyed the habitat of the various animals.

LION
Animals such as lions are captured and placed in circuses to entertain crowds. In order to satisfy our need for entertainment, these animals are trained and forced to perform acts that are unnatural. These animals are also kept in very poor conditions. Amidst the fun and entertainment that the human beings are enjoying, these animals have to go through harsh training.

FOX
As the world becomes more and more advanced and urbanised, more and more land is needed to satisfy the human need of space for improvement. Forests are destroyed in order to get more space, causing the forests to become concrete jungles. The wild animals' habitat are slowly depleting, and sooner or later, all wild animals will be history.

  1. SIAN!!! Your pencil skills are amazingg and i really like how you use different materials like beads and layer your artwork. However i feel that for the lion and panda post, the foreground and the middle ground should blend in more. Like for the fox, some of the foxes appear to be popping out which is awesome!! :) Maybe you can put a panda over the grass or 1-2 more chains over the lions?

  2. YO SALTY MONSTUH

your pencil sketchings are really amazing. something i will never be able to do. i should learn to be more controlled and patient like you. and you should learn to be less of a perfectionists and "anyhow draw" like i do :D

i really didn't expect your final to turn out like that. but i really love it. i like how you use the beady things to represent forest fire. it looks very pretty at first, like extra designs, but actually they signify how the habitats are being burnt and destroyed. i also like how these add texture and depth to your work.

i like how you arranged your sketches too:D like the layering and overlapping, but for all 3, they seem to be cluttered in the centre. is it meant to be like that? if not, i think you can try out different layouts :D

  4. hi Rui Sian! I'm impressed at your pencil drawings of animals!! they are all very detailedly drawn and all the features could be seen clearly.
i especially like the last poster with the fox. i think it really convey the message that animals have no more space to live due to urbanization. the buildings as the background, which suggest urbanization. the fox seem to have been chase out from the world and only able to find a corner to live in.
i also like how you have use different materials to compose the background. as it is shiny in nature it helps to symbolize the rapid industrialization and urbanization as well.
however, like what clare have said, the overlapping of lions in the second poster seem to be a bit awkward, maybe is because you haven't paste it properly yet. also the paper cut for the mane of the lions looks quite flat, you might want to define it a bit more?
also, maybe you want to make the animals appear at the corner of the poster to make it more obvious that the animals have to where to live?

  5. Hi Ruisian :D

So I thought.. maybe pandas should be placed amongst bamboo. Then I realized, that could be exactly why you didn't place them in their natural setting. I think you were trying to portray how human actions can lead to deforestation/desertification/etc, so the setting shouldn't be so luscious and green.. I like how the background you chose for each poster corresponds with the concept behind the artwork.

I think that, the lions could be scaled smaller, and dominate less of the painting. That way, more of the background can be seen. Maybe you could even make the background more circus-y.. Because right now, it's not very clear that it's about entertainment/circuses. (for me at least)

My favourite one is the fox one. :D Even though pandas are my favourite animal.
